Motorcycle major Bajaj Auto Ltd today said the company gained additional two per cent market share motorcycle market during the first three quarters of the year up from 24 per cent riding on new models.
The company has launched four major models during the financial year, including Discover 4G, Pulsar 200 NS, Discover 125 ST and Discover 100T. “We plan to launch several new models during the year and expect to increase the market share,” said K. Srinivas, President, Motorcycle Business.
Addressing a press conference here to launch ‘The Ultimate 100’ Discover 100T here today, he said the company expects the new bike to add over 40,000 vehicle sales per month by April once it goes pan Indian by next month.
“We began the financial year with a market share of about 24 per cent in motorcycles and have gained about 2 per cent share in the first nine months. We not only hope to sustain the growth momentum but also look to further expand the market share,” he said.
The Discover 100T is priced at Rs 51, 645 (ex-showroom) in Hyderabad.
The launch of new models with additional features attracts customers. This was evident from the new models the company launched during the year, he said.
The company, which has a manufacturing capacity of 4 million motorcycles, expects to close this fiscal with a capacity utilisation of 80 per cent or volumes of 3.2-3.3 million. “However, given the new launches, we expect the utilisation percentage could go up next financial year. The manufacturing capacity includes exports,” he said.
