A hearing in a petition filed by Bajaj Auto in the Pune labour court, scheduled for today, has been adjourned till tomorrow (July 17).
The petition, seeking that a strike by workers at its Chakan plant be declared illegal, was filed by the motorcycles major two weeks ago. Workers belonging to the Vishwakalyan Kamgar Sanghtana, the workers’ union, stopped work at the Chakan plant from June 25 to press for their demands, which included wage revision, ESOPS and reinstatement of 22 suspended workers.
In its first hearing on July 8, the Court had suggested that the two parties resolve their issues through discussions. The union had also asked for time to appoint a lawyer.
At tomorrow’s hearing, the union will submit its written statement to the Court.
