Today’s hearing of a petition filed by Bajaj Auto in the Pune labour court has been postponed till tomorrow.
The petition prayed that a strike by 900 workers belonging to the Vishwakalyan Kamgar Sanghtana, the operative Union at its Chakan plants since June 25, be declared illegal.
The Additional Labour Commissioner, Pune, R.R. Hendre, has been presiding over discussions held between the Union and the Bajaj management to help resolve the issues. The meetings, the last held on Saturday, have all proved to be inconclusive.
Bajaj Auto says that today, around 757 workers reported to work and expect to produce 2,000 vehicles at Chakan and 1,100 Pulsars at its Waluj plant in Aurangabad. With this, the company has achieved 100 per cent of its requirement of all brands of the Pulsar, Avenger and KTM, it said.
On the BSE today, the Bajaj Auto share touched a high of Rs 2,008 before closing at Rs 1985.85, nearly one per cent higher over Friday’s closure.
