Bajaj Auto's total sales during January 2016 have risen by 2 per cent to stand at 2,93,939 units versus 2,88,746 in the same month of 2015.
A filing to the BSE indicated that the company's motorcycles sales grew 2 per cent year-on-year to 2,52,988 units (2,46,955 units), while commercial vehicle sales saw a drop of 2 per cent to 40,951 versus 41,791 units.
Exports of the Pune-based motorcycles major continue to be under pressure with a decline of 8 per cent to 1,32,069 units from 1,42,992 in January 2015.
For the 10-month period ending January 31, Bajaj Auto’s total sales as well as bike sales stood practically what they were in the same period last year at around 3.3 million and 2.85 million units, respectively. Exports declined by 3 per cent to 1.54 million units.
On the BSE, the Bajaj Auto scrip was trading at Rs 2,358 with a gain of Rs 30 (1.29 per cent) apiece. The benchmark index stood 0.16 per cent higher.
