The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited tenders for a new IPL team.
This comes after the termination of the Deccan Chargers team, which has defaulted on payments.
As per the new tender, the winning bidder will be granted the right to own and operate a new team which will compete in the IPL in each year from 2013 onwards and will also have the opportunity to compete in any Champions League T20 tournament staged from 2013 onwards, said BCCI in a release.
Bids may be submitted for the following cities: Ahmedabad, Cuttack, Dharamsala, Indore, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Nagpur, Noida, Rajkot, Ranchi and Vizag.
The Invitation to Tender can be acquired on any working day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. from October 15, at the BCCI office, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai upon payment of Rs 5 lakh (non-refundable and non-adjustable) by demand draft or pay order (both payable in Pune), said the release.
The bids must be submitted at 12.00 noon on October 24.
The winning bids will be announced in the manner set out in the Invitation to Tender, said the release quoting Sanjay Jagdale, Honorary Secretary, BCCI.
