Foundry maker Besco Ltd aims to supply 3,000 high-capacity wagons to Indian Railways by 2015. Currently, the company has an order for 500 such wagons.
Inaugurating Besco’s new wagon manufacturing unit at Baruipur in West Bengal, Mr Sidharth Tantia, Director of Besco, said: “With the dedicated freight corridor coming up, railways would require nearly 36,000 wagons in the next two years. So, we see a good potential in the sector in the years to come.’’
Spread over 14 acres, the unit entailed an initial investment of Rs 120 crore.
