Bajaj Auto Ltd appears to be firing on all cylinders with the company notching up the highest-ever motorcycle and three-wheeler sales and best-ever exports for any February during last month.
The company registered motorcycle sales of 3,01,961 units compared to 2,86,657 units in February 2011, a growth of 5 per cent. This, the company said, was its highest-ever motorcycle sales for any February.
The commercial vehicle sales were 41,816 units (40,217 units), an increase of 4 per cent and again a best-ever February performance for the company in the three -wheeler category.
The total vehicle sales were 3,43,777 units (3,26,874 units), a 5 per cent gain.The company, out of this, exported 1,22,727 vehicles (1,02,433 vehicles), a 20 per cent increase and again a best-ever February show.
During the April 2011-February 2012 period, Bajaj Auto has recorded consistent growth as evidenced by its performance. The company has sold 35,33,557 motorcycles in the period against 31,2,651 units in the same period last year, a 14 per cent increase.
The commercial vehicles sales grew 19 per cent to 4,80,488 units (4,03,535 units). Of this, exports accounted for 14,72,133 vehicles, a 30 per cent growth, from 11,33,834 units registered during the same period last year.
The total vehicle production was 40,14,045 vehicles (35,16,213 vehicles) during the same period (April-February) last year, a 14 per cent growth.
However, the market appeared to shrug off Bajaj Auto numbers. The stock had, on February 29, hit its 52-week high of Rs 1,843.35 on the NSE. But today, Bajaj Auto on the NSE shed Rs 21.40 to trade at Rs 1,752.80 with a trading volume of 1.72 lakh shares.
