State-run BHEL today said that it has bagged two contracts worth Rs 132 crore from NTPC for executing two solar power projects at Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh and Talcher in Odisha.
“BHEL has won turnkey contracts for setting up two eco-friendly grid-connected solar power plants of 10-MW capacity each at Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh and Talcher in Odisha,” the company said in a statement.
Valued at Rs 132 crore, the orders have been placed by NTPC for setting up the solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plants, each having 10-MW capacity.
BHEL’s scope of work envisages design, manufacture, supply, installation and operation, besides maintenance of the solar power plants for one year.
The company has already commenced supplies to both the solar power projects. The first consignment, comprising SPV modules, was flagged off from BHEL’s electronics division in Bangalore today, the statement added.
Each solar power plant comprises SPV modules which are manufactured using the mono-crystalline silicon photovoltaic (C-SI PV) technology that is well proven and has the longest operational experience across the world.
The solar PV modules are manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility located at Bangalore. BHEL is planning to augment its manufacturing facilities further in this field, the statement said.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 164.80, up 2.04 per cent on the BSE.
