Power gear major BHEL has enhanced its eastern regional sales by 24 per cent to Rs 2,700 crore during 2011-12, a company official said. Profit before tax from the region increased by 29 per cent from approximately Rs 122 crore in 2010-11 to Rs 158 crore. During the year, BHEL-Eastern region sold equipment capable to generate 2,838 MW. “We are expecting the region to contribute revenue of Rs 3,100 crore and gross profit of Rs 374 crore during the current fiscal,” said the Executive Director of BHEL, eastern region, Mr Rajiv Kumar. According to him, a total of 17,000 MW of capacity is currently under implementation in the Eastern and North Eastern regional States. The cumulative order book position, in the region, stands at Rs 7,153 crore.
