The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has deployed Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd’s (BHEL) space-grade solar panels and lithium-ion batteries.
According to a BHEL release, ISRO recently deployed solar panels and batteries on the GSAT-10 satellite.
The four solar panels, each of 5.36 square metres area supplied by BHEL for the GSAT-10, comprise multi-junction solar cells in series and parallel combinations, with a total power generating capacity of 4,000 watts.
BHEL has also supplied two sets of Li-ion batteries, each consisting of 40 Li-ion cells with a power storage capacity of 160 Ampere-Hours for GSAT-10.
The satellite, launched from French Guyana on September 29, is the heaviest Indian satellite built by ISRO and is tailored for the country’s telecommunications and TV broadcasting requirements.
