BMW India, which has 33 dealers across the country, is planning to expand it to 50 by end-2014.
Addressing presspersons on the sidelines of the inauguration of the company’s 33rd showroom in Mangalore on Wednesday, Philipp von Sahr, President of BMW Group India, said that the company will expand its dealer network to 50 by the end of 2014 across major metropolitan centres and emerging markets in the country.
Terming Mangalore as one of the fastest growing non-metro cities in the country, he said Navnit Motors (BMW’s dealer in Mangalore) will play an important role in the company’s plan.
To a query on the potential for BMW cars in Mangalore, Navnit Kachalia, Chairman and Managing Director of Navnit Group, hoped that it will be a double-digit sales a month in the region.
To reach customers in the emerging markets in the country, the company has also launched BMW mobile showrooms.
Mobile showrooms
Philipp von Sahr said that the BMW mobile showrooms will reach cities that have the potential to be covered under the existing BMW sales and service network. Covering nine states till March 2013, the BMW Mobile showroom will visit Karnal, Agra, Dehradun, Jamshedpur, Patna, Bhopal, Nashik, Mysore and Madurai.
He said that these mobile showrooms provide an opportunity to test-drive vehicles and avail promotional finance offers from BMW Financial Services.
He said that the Chennai plant of BMW will produce BMW 7 series and BMW 1 series in 2013. The Chennai plant produces cars in BMW 3, 5 and X1 series in petrol and diesel variants, and X3 in diesel variant. The plant has the capacity to produce 11,000 units a year.
