BMW’s breezy, two-seat roadster, the Z4, has been treated to a new economical entry-level engine and some subtle cosmetic updates.
The smallest engine on offer is now a 2.0-litre unit turning out 156 horsepower. The car is badged as the Z4 18i, a BMW nomenclature which gives no indication of engine size.
The Munich manufacturer claims a top speed of 221 kilometres per hour for the 18i and lists average fuel consumption at 6.8 litres per 100 km. C02 emissions stand at 159g/km.
Other engine options still include two other 2.0-litre units with 181 hp or 242 hp on tap.
The most prominent visible changes include a new front design which gives the car a sleeker appearance. For those who are in a hurry to sample fresh air, the Z4’s push-button soft-top can now be opened automatically at speeds of up to 40 km/h.
