German automotive technology provider Bosch has partnered with app companies in India to provide a connected car experience.
The company’s app allows users to access apps compatible to mySPIN, a Bosch platform, and services directly from a touch-screen inside a car
As part of this initiative, app-makers such as Car Radio, Justdial, Overdrive, Moneycontrol and UrSafe (developed by UST Global) have partnered with Bosch.
The mySPIN solution connects a user’s smartphone with the car, allowing the driver to use hands-free.
mySPIN is an attempt by the company to be the Play Store for automobile-related apps.
Bosch has been working with app developers across the world to strengthen the platform, as it believes a connected car and the data it throws up will help the German technology major drive it’s growth in the future.
“In future, automobile manufacturers can use our platform to make vehicle data available to apps,” said Sri Krishnan, Vice-President, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions.
Bosch also believes that as the vehicle is the third living space for an individual after home and office, providing the right service is getting increasingly important.
Globally, Bosch has partnered with 50 apps, including AccuWeather, Speaking Email, mysms.
The company has also tied up with Jaguar Land Rover — which uses the mySPIN platform in its cars — and is in talks with other car makers too.
The company also plans to extend mySPIN to two-wheelers in India, but Bosch officials did not specify a timeline.
