Bounce, smart urban mobility solution provider, received the Karnataka Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) licence to be part of Bangalore’s first Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) system.

Bounce is among the only four operators to be part of this much-awaited PBS project.

Under this strategic partnership, Bounce will now have access to designated public parking lots across the city and will be setting up multiple hubs.

This initiative effectively ties into the company’s objective of addressing urban traffic issues through shared mobility. Bounce expects their bicycles to be used for not only first and last mile-connectivity but also for regular short distance commute.

Additionally, in the wake of this collaboration, Bounce plans to add up to 10,000 bicycles over the next few months based on public response and demand.

Commenting on this development, Vivekananda H R, Co-founder, Bounce said, “I strongly feel that this will be a tipping point in shared mobility and public transport system. I thank DULT for initiating this and congratulate all other licenced operators for being part of this milestone moment. Bounce is committed to transforming India’s urban mobility landscape and this partnership ties into our long-term goal of making Bangalore a public transport society.”

Inauguration

Bangalore’s first Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) system was inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, on Monday.

Speaking at the launch event, Mahendra Jain, Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary of DULT, said, “I took one of the Bounce bikes for a spin and I liked that it has the option to peddle or run on motor. It is indeed a brilliant initiative from Bounce and I wish them good luck.”

With PBS now functional, Bounce users can now easily access bicycles any time anywhere. A user has to simply log-onto the app, check for nearest cycle, unlock by scanning a QR code and then indicate the end of the ride through the app. Bounce’s dock less facility makes finding and dropping off the bicycle convenient as well as hassle-free.
