Bradford License, Diamond Comics to license popular cartoon characters

Bradford License India and Diamond Comics Group & Loyal Software have entered into a tie-up to license popular cartoon characters Chacha Chaudhary, Saboo and Raka.

Bradford License India is in talks with leading retailers and is set to finalise extensions that will include apparel, gifts and novelty items under product licensing.

Prameet Saluja of Diamond Comics Group said: “The market size of our indigenous comic industry is around Rs 150 crore, while the animation and live movie industry is around $650 million growing at 30 per cent. Diamond Comics has a solid association with its FMCG and TV distributors, and now we are eager to utilise Bradford License India’s expertise in unique opportunity identification, marketing and business development to capitalize on our brand value further.’’

Diamond Comics Group has created about 66 comic characters and launched comics in multiple regional languages.

Digital comics

Loyal Software Pvt Ltd is pushing digital comics on platforms like Readwhere and Rockstand, and is available on every Android and iOS platform.

Michelle Minieri, President of Bradford License India, said: “We aim at taking these popular characters to new heights, attaining an effective level of penetration in the market through innovative strategies. These strategies will entail encompassing international collaborations, hybrid licensing efforts, creation of TV enabled software, mobile and internet applications and comprehensive retail strategy.’’

Promotional licensing

Diamond Comics will also be extended into promotional licensing, with characters coupled with corporate brands, to provide interesting tips on health, road safety or even life insurance.

The licensed merchandise will be available in leading online stores, popular MBOs and other retail points including various college and campus fests.

Bradford License India represents some major brands like NBA, Liverpool FC, University Of Oxford, Polaroid, Pepsi, 7UP, Mountain Dew, Diamond Comics, Asterix, Teletubbies, among others.
