Delhi discoms run by Reliance Group firm BSES on Thursday sought immediate release of pending dues worth around Rs 450 crore, which would allow the utilities to clear NTPC bills.
BSES has written separately to Delhi Government to release pending subsidy of Rs 262 crore and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to clear dues of around Rs 200 crore.
The discoms wants to clear NTPC bills by February 10, failing which the power producer has threatened to regulate nearly 2,000 mw of supplies to the national capital.
NTPC has issued regulation notices to BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. (BYPL), stating that 100 per cent of power supplies will be discontinued with effect from midnight of 10-11, on account of non-payment of dues and or failure to maintain adequate LCs.
Accordingly, if the regulation notices are implemented, there will be almost 100 per cent load shedding in BRPL and BYPL areas, except critical loads like hospitals, metro, and or minimal supply during off-peak night hours.
There are pending subsidy payouts of Rs 166.35 cr towards BRPL, while another Rs 95.79 crore for BYPL.
Discoms have also written to Government saying it may make a direct payment to NTPC of Rs 95 crore due to BYPL while disbursing the balance amount to BSES Discoms to meet the immediate need.
