Kolkata-based IFGL Bioceramics is planning to introduce calcium phosphate cement (CPC) for dental and orthopaedic applications. IFGL Bioceramics is a part of the IFGL Refractories group.
The company has already entered into a license agreement with the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, for obtaining the necessary manufacturing processes.
CPC, a self-setting cement, can be injected directly to the site of a bone defect for orthopaedic procedures.
