Canon India launched 12 new compact camera models on Tuesday, of which 5 were wi-fi cameras, to ensure it strengthens its position in the social networking space. The total range of cameras of the company now stands at 40. It also launched exclusive online photography resources and web service for Canon users called Canon Image Gateway.
In a statement, Kazutada Kobayashi, President and CEO, Canon India, said, “India is a prime market for Canon and it is imperative for us to keep introducing high-end technology to stay ahead in such a competitive market. Today’s launch focuses on a range of innovative cameras responding to the growing demand for technology among Indian users.”
The company expects to capture 45 per cent market share in DSLR and 25 per cent market share in digital compact camera segments in 2013.
The company expects to reach revenues of Rs 2,125 crore by the end of 2013 from Rs 1,850 crore in 2012, the company said in a statement.
