CESC Ltd on Tuesday reported an approximate 26 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 171 crore for the quarter ending September 2013. It had reported a net profit of Rs 136 crore for the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
According to Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, CESC Ltd, 3 per cent higher sales and a similar reduction in power purchase from the State electricity boards saw an improvement in the topline.
A higher plant load factor of one per cent also led to better a topline, he said.
Net sales for the quarter under review stood at Rs 1,611 crore.
Spencer's, Goenka said, has reported monthly per sq feet sales of Rs 1,363.
Another five new stores, with a total area of over 210,000 sq feet, would be added by March 2014.
