Coal India Ltd has reported the highest-ever offtake of 2 million tonnes on a single day this Wednesday. An official statement said that this was enabled by the movement of 344.5 coal rakes, higher than the benchmark of 342 rakes per day.
Of the total rakes, 289.5 rakes were from Coal India’s own sidings, and the rest were from supplies at private coal washeries and good sheds.
Daily average dispatch to power plants during the last ten days has also crossed the target of 1.4 mt. As a result, stocks at power stations, which had plunged to the lowest level of about 7 mt during October 2017, has now improved to 16 mt, despite a rapid increase in coal consumption.
