Mexico-based multiplex operator Cinepolis has entered Andhra Pradesh with the launch of its first five-screen all-digital multiplex here today.
Cinepolis, which is the world’s fourth largest movie theatre circuit with a chain of 3,300 screens in 11 countries, has signed up with mall developers to open 50 screens in the State in the next 30 months, Devang Sampat, India Head (Operations and Strategy), said.
“The multiplexes in Hyderabad are running at significantly high occupancy rates, which hold huge promise for us to expand. While 45 of the proposed screens will come up in Hyderabad over the next couple of years, the remaining will be opened in Vijayawada shortly,” he said.
The company has signed over 450 screens pan-India, which would be rolled out in phased manner by 2016.
