Flaying the recent ‘lay-offs’ in IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) said in a statement that this was being done “despite consistent rise in the turnover and profits”. CITU General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tapan Sen said thousands of mid-level IT jobs had been impacted in different TCS centres. Terming this as “unethical and unjustifiable”, Sen urged the company to take back the retrenched employees. Meanwhile, reports said the Regional Joint Labour Commissioner has called a meeting of stakeholders on the issue on January 22.
