Clariant Chemicals (India) today said its board has approved capacity expansion at its plants at Roha in Maharashtra.
The company has Azo pigments and pigment preparation units at Roha in adjoining Raigad district.
The specialty chemicals maker recently announced an investment of Rs 38 crore in its pigments business at Roha site. The investment includes construction of a new pigment plant to double capacity.
The latest investment is intended to support the company’s market growth in India. It marks another step in Clariant’s efforts to enhance its on-the-ground presence and offer more intimate customer service in the emerging Indian and Asian markets, a company statement said.
An upgraded technical service laboratory for pigments has commenced operations at the firm’s Cuddalore site (Tamil Nadu). Clariant is also in the process of doubling marketing and sales organisation in India, China and Indonesia throughout 2013, it said.
“Our on-going efforts to strengthen our presence in India are part of a broader commitment to meet growing demand here and in the rest of the region, and to give customers access to high quality, sustainable products and technical support tailored to their local product development needs,” Clariant Senior Vice-President & General Manager (Business Units Pigments), Marco Cenisio said.
