Clay Craft, manufacturer and retailer of fine Bone China and ceramic tableware, has acquired JCPL (Jaipur Ceramics Pvt Ltd), another retailer in the same space thus making it the leading player in this category. With this Clay Craft will invest Rs 100 crore this year for expanding the distribution network and setting up a new plant.

Clay Craft’s acquisition of JCPL’s brand will see a parallel branding of both JCPL and its own products in the market. Clay Craft India will get a facelift by undertaking the branding rights allowing the firm to increase its distributor and retailer network and an increase in the market share.

Padam Narian Agarwal, Managing Director, Clay Craft India, said, “We will run JCPL brand parallel to its existing brands. The supply of the additional market demand will be satisfied by Clay Craft India’s existing facility initially. JCPL’s global network will help us to bring global distributorship expertise and we will utilise it to increase our presence in global markets.”

The Indian Ceramic and Bone China industry has been growing ever since and has become the largest suppliers of Bone China articles in Europe replacing large industries who have been the manufacturers of Bone China for more than 300 years. In the face of stiff global competition and emerging trends, the ceramic and glass industry in India has been growing at a pace of 25 percent.

Clay Craft, with over 10,000 retail outlets and over 150 channel partners including major retailers like Big Bazaar, Home Center, Lifestyle, Spencer, Homeshop 18, Jabong.com, also has corporate clients such as Taj Group, Hyatt Hotels, Pepsi, and Wipro among others. Company also exports its high-end products to the UK, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
