Coal India Ltd has ended 2011-12 with a production of 435.84 million tonnes. Production was up by 4.52 mt or 1 per cent compared to the previous fiscal.
A press release issued by the company on late Monday evening quoted Chairperson, Ms Zohra Chatterji, saying: “I am happy to inform that CIL has turned around the crippling negative growth of 19 per cent and 16.9 per cent in August and September 2011 due to unprecedented rains and ended with a positive growth this fiscal.”
Offtake of raw coal reached an all time high of 432.53 mt during 2011-12, surpassing previous highest figure of 424.50 mt achieved last year, representing a growth of 1.9 per cent, the release added.
