Coal India Ltd has reported a marginal 0.4 per cent production growth to 102.87 million tonnes in the first quarter of this fiscal.
Coal off-take or volume sales increased by two per cent to 115.25 mt during the same period. CIL targeted nearly 107 mt production and 120 mt off-take in the last quarter.
The company sources attribute the dull demand from consumers, especially the State Government-run generation utilities, as a major reason for the low offtake growth.
