The trade unions of Coal India have reaffirmed their decision to go for a nationwide strike between December 17 and 19.
The unions affiliated to the All-India Coal Workers’ Federation (AICWF) have been opposing the Centre’s plan to disinvest stake in Coal India.
According to a statement issued by AICWF, though the federation has welcomed Tuesday’s decision to withhold the disinvestment plan, the strike stands unless the Coal Ministry “institutionalises” the decision.
The federation has also demanded that the Ministry take necessary steps after a joint meeting in this regard.
Members of AICWF will also hold demonstrations in different cities across the country on Thursday.
