Cobra Beer, founded by NRI entrepreneur Lord Karan Bilimoria, has won four gold medals in 2011 Monde Selection World Quality Awards, making it one of the most highly awarded beer brands over the past ten years.
The entire Cobra Beer portfolio has been awarded gold medals in this year’s competition, the 50th Anniversary of the Monde Selection World Quality Awards.
Monde Selection is an independent international institute based in Brussels with a mission to test consumer products and rate them for their quality. It is one of the most prestigious quality awards in the world for a beer to attain.
Cobra has been awarded a total of 55 Monde Selection Gold Medals since it first entered the awards in 2001.
Lord Karan Bilimoria, Founder and Chairman of Cobra Beer, said: “A Monde Selection award is the most prestigious award for our beer, an indisputable guarantee of high quality.
We are proud to continue to be recognised by an award which has been synonymous with the best quality in the world since the Monde Selection was first instituted in 1961.”
Mr Adrian Davey, Managing Director of Cobra Beer Partnership, said: “Cobra is a unique and iconic brand and has celebrated a journey spanning over 20 years and covering many miles across the globe. Through the combination of Molson Coors’ strong infrastructure, comprehensive routes to market and a track record of building leading brands, and Cobra’s industry knowhow and heritage, we are in a strong position to ensure that we continue to achieve such high quality now and for many years to come.”
Some 2,450 products from over 80 countries are tested each year in eight categories under the programme, which is the consumer goods equivalent of the Michelin Guide.
