Coffee Day Hotels and Resorts today said it is eyeing 10 properties in the next five years with a total inventory of about 300 rooms.

The firm, a subsidiary of Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Co Ltd (ABCTCL) that operates Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) chains across the country, currently has three resorts and wants to add seven more.

“We have three resorts known as The Serai located at Chikmagalur, Kabini and Bandipur in Karnataka. We are developing properties in Mangalore which are expected to be operational in calendar year 2014 and those in the Andamans to be operational in 2015. After this, we will be exploring other opportunities in Kerala,” Coffee Day Hotels and Resorts Head (Marketing) Anand Menon told PTI here.

The three resorts falling under premium luxury category currently have an inventory of 73 rooms.

“At present the resorts have 30-35 rooms each. We want to keep inventory of each resort at 30-35 rooms that will take us to about 300 rooms in the next five years,” he added.

The company had invested about Rs 100 crore to develop the Karnataka resorts. “We are expecting to follow the same pattern in developing the remaining seven resorts,” he said without giving details about the cost of each holiday centre.

The company enjoys occupancy of about 72 per cent at its resorts. “Each year our footfall is increasing at about 20 per cent. However, we are expecting the growth to be over 25 per cent following our promotional activities and loyalty programme,” Menon said.

The company currently employs about 300 people, half of them from the area where the resorts are built.

“We expect to employ over 1,000 people in the next five years at our 10 resorts,” Menon said.
