e-Commerce portal eBay has ranked Coimbatore as the 13th largest e-Commerce hub in the country.
Unveiling the fourth edition of the annual eBay Census Guide, which document the key trends in online buying, importing, selling and exporting across the top e-Commerce hubs in 28 States and seven Union Territories, the Country Manager of eBay India, Mr B. Muralikrishnan, said the five States with most transactions were Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, and the top five e-Commerce hubs were Delhi, followed closely by Mumbai, Bangalore, Jaipur and Chennai.
There are over 3,300 e-Commerce hubs and consumers and entrepreneurs from rural pockets increasingly plugged into e-trade. Metros accounted for a predominant share of purchases, contributing 51 per cent of all e-Commerce transactions, while the tier-II and III cities accounted for 40 per cent of the transactions and rural India for the remaining 9 per cent.
The findings further revealed that Indians were brand savvy with Sony at the top spot followed by Nokia, Samsung, Apple and Reebok.
Women shoppers seemed to be increasingly addicted to online shopping, buying cosmetics, jewellery, watches, fashion and fitness equipment.
Over 45 per cent of all purchases were in the lifestyle category and electronic gadgets continued to rule the online shopper's wallet.
