Renault Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) today said it has appointed Colin Macdonald as the Managing Director with effect from April 1.
Colin Macdonald began his career at Nissan in the Sunderland plant in 1991 and has been Deputy Managing Director of RNAIPL since January 2014.
He will be responsible for the operations of the Renault—Nissan Alliance factory at Oragadam, near Chennai.
The plant has a potential annual capacity of 4,80,000 units and exports to more than a hundred countries and regions, making Nissan the third biggest exporter of cars from India.
The Renault—Nissan Alliance employs more than 15,000 people in India.
“Under Colin’s leadership RNAIPL will continue to be a major manufacturing hub for Nissan, making great products in India for export around the world. Our advanced plant at Oragadam, near Chennai, demonstrates the global strength of the Renault—Nissan Alliance.
With the continuing support of Tamil Nadu government we are optimistic of even greater success. Colin will have my full support as he guides RNAIPL in the next stage of its development,” Nissan’s Executive Vice President in charge of global manufacturing Fumiaki Matsumoto said.
Toshihiko Sano, currently Managing Director at RNAIPL, will take up a new position as Senior Vice President of Nissan’s key supplier, Calsonic Kansei in Japan.
