The Company Secretaries Institute and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) have come together for the joint promotion of corporate and securities market governance.
Both the institutes have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this purpose.
“We want to marry the strengths of NISM in securities market governance and the strengths of ICSI in corporate governance so that the economy will benefit,” M.S. Sahoo, Secretary, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), told Business Line .
Under this MoU, securities market professionals will get trained in corporate governance matters and the company secretaries will be trained on securities market issues.
Both the institutes will undertake joint research projects and publish papers on corporate governance, financial markets, corporate social responsibility and sustainability reporting.
They will also jointly conduct development programmes for directors/top management in areas of corporate governance, corporate laws, accounting, finance and management.
pact WITH IIBF
The ICSI has signed a MoU with Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) to jointly design and offer a certification course – Banking Compliance Professional.
This will be for ICSI members and CAIIB (certified associates of the Indian Institute of Bankers) qualified officers working in banks.
