Crompton Greaves (CG), part of the $ 4-billion Avantha Group, has announced the inauguration of its drives and automation plant at Mandideep, Bhopal. The plant was inaugurated by Mr S.M. Trehan, Managing Director, Crompton Greaves.
This plant will produce AC drives for the industrial segment and supply traction converters and control electronics to the Indian Railways.
For the Indian Railways, this plant will initially manufacture power converters, auxiliary converters (3x100 kVA) and control electronics for 6,000 HP electric locomotives type WAG9 and WAP5. For the industrial segment, it will offer AC drive systems up to 1.2 MW in 415 V and up to 5 MW in 690V.
It will also offer package solutions involving transformers, low voltage switchgears, motors and AC drives.
With this plant, Crompton Greaves has become one of the few companies to offer a vast selection of electrical equipments to the industrial segment.
Built at an initial investment of Rs 110 million, this plant boasts a shop floor spread over 30,000 sq feet and is equipped with modern machineries and tools.
