Cross Company, the iconic writing instrument maker from the US, is launching its leather accessory range in India.
Yashovardhan Gupta, Director & CEO of Torero Corporation, an Indian company holding a global marketing licence for Cross branded leather items, said the formal launch would take place on Wednesday. He said the company had planned an ad spend of $2 million for the launch.
Torero, which manufactures leather items such as wallets, bags, belts and cases for mobiles, laptops and iPads for Cross, was also investing around $6 million in capacity expansion at its Kolkata plant.
City-based Torero said Cross items would be available through departmental and chain stores in tier I and II cities as well as online through Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Myntra, and Jabong.
The items are produced from finished Spanish leather, imported from a Cross approved unit in Spain. Cross has taken a special pricing strategy for the Indian market.
“On an average, the Indian price for an item has been pegged 40 per cent lower than Cross branded items sold elsewhere in the globe,” Gupta said.
