Daimler India Commercial Vehicle has started exporting bus chassis to Egypt.
According to a statement from Daimler India, MCV, its business partner in Cairo, will build the body on the nine-tonne bus chassis in Cairo and the finished vehicles will be sold as Mercedes Benz buses through MCV’s nationwide sales network.
The bus chassis with front-mounted engines are manufactured at the Daimler India plant in Chennai, where they are rolled out from the same assembly line as that of BharatBenz trucks.
The upcoming 113,000-sq m Daimler India plant, that will have an initial installed capacity of 1,500 vehicles per year, will make Mercedes-Benz and BharatBenz.
