Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries said it had acquired a sugar manufacturing plant near Kolhapur in Maharashtra for an undisclosed amount. The plant has a capacity of 2,500 tonnes cane crush a day.
The deal will be subject to approval by existing lenders under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002, and other approvals, said Dalmia Bharat Sugar in a statement on the BSE.
Aggregate capacity
The company has three sugar mills with an aggregate cane crushing capacity of 22,500 tonne a day at its plants in Uttar Pradesh, and supplies sugar in the North Indian markets.
It also has a co-generation facility and distillery of 80 kg litres a day.
The company’s shares on the BSE were down five per cent at Rs 20 on Tuesday.
