Datsun is as yet prepping its machinery for launching the first car from the revived brand’s new portfolio of cars. That hasn’t stopped the company from unveiling a new concept car called redi-GO, built on the same ‘GO’ platform as that of its new range of ‘globally relevant – locally produced’ cars.
The company is yet to officially launch the GO in India, though official details about the new hatch should be announced in the coming days and bookings will open soon. Datsun is also planning to launch the GO+, a 7-seater family van, in India by the second half of this year. The MPV will first be launched in the Indonesian market.
The redi-GO concept combines the practicality of a 5-door hatchback and the stance of a compact sport utility. The vehicle concept is said to preview the potential for a small crossover in the Indian market. The design of the concept reflects the relatively new design language established by the revived Japanese brand – one which has had a hiatus of more than three decades, since it was withdrawn in 1981.
A Datsun release said that though the concept remains a styling study at the current stage, were it to be put into production it would be priced to target established compact hatchbacks.
