Media firm DB Corp today reported 74.31 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 76.09 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2013.
The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 43.65 crore in the same period of previous fiscal, DB Corp said in a filing to the BSE.
Net sales of the company stood at Rs 422.03 crore in the April-June quarter, compared to Rs 352.31 crore during the same period of previous fiscal.
“We are happy to report a strong performance in the first quarter of this fiscal that has sustained our expansion momentum. We have maintained our brand equity and leadership position in all our legacy markets as we also continue to demonstrate good growth in our emerging editions,” Sudhir Agarwal, Managing Director, DB Corp said.
Total revenue from advertising grew 21 per cent to Rs 344.7 crore during the quarter as against Rs 286.2 crore in the same period of last fiscal, the company said.
DB Corp publishes eight newspapers with 65 editions in Hindi, Gujarati, English and Marathi languages, including Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar and Saurashtra Samachar.
The company scrip closed at Rs 250.05, up 3.54 per cent from its previous close, on the BSE.
