For IPL season 5, the GMR-owned cricket franchise Delhi Daredevils has chosen to bat with Cheil Worldwide South West Asia. GMR has awarded the digital, below-the-line and creative communication mandate to the South Korean agency.
During Season 4 of Indian cricket's premier league, Leo Burnett handled the Delhi Daredevils account. Eleven agencies participated in the pitch for Daredevil's 2012 outing.
Mr Alok Agrawal, COO, Cheil WW SW Asia, said, “Two factors were responsible for Cheil's win — its integrated expertise and its global sports marketing capabilities.”
According to him, the agency offered a truly integrated solution — encompassing advertising, retail, merchandise offerings, below-the-line and digital. Plus, he pointed to Cheil's experience in handling various football clubs, and events such as the Asian Games and the Olympics.
