Digital media solutions company Komli Media has acquired South-East Asian digital media network Admax for an undisclosed sum. Five-year-old Admax Network started operations in Thailand, and now has a team of 100 in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.

It has sales partnerships in the region with over 4,600 local and international publishers, including exclusive partnerships with Facebook in Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines; and MSN in Thailand.

In June 2011, Komli acquired Singapore-headquartered Aktiv Digital to gain greater access to the South East Asian markets.

Bullish on S-E Asia

Speaking to Business Line , Mr Prashant Mehta, CEO, Komli Media, said, “We believe South East Asia is the next billion dollar opportunity in digital advertising. It is already the fastest growing, and we believe it is now getting to the right amount of scale.”

In a statement, Komli said the online advertising market in the region is estimated to be worth $250 to 300 million currently, and growing at 30 to 40 per cent annually.

Prior to the acquisition, Komli had a team of 300, of which 90 were engaged in R&D to develop digital advertising solutions. Among others, Komli had also acquired mobile advertising network ZestAdz in 2011.

The current acquisition will enable Komli to take its solutions across the digital spectrum to the fast-growing South East Asian region through Admax, which is primarily a display ad media network.

“We have evolved as a brand-focused display ad media network, and through this move we can take business to the next level in these key markets with more solutions,” said Mr Mathew Ward, CEO, Admax Network.

He cited Komli’s offerings in the areas of real-time bidding, mobile, video and social media as potential growth drivers in Admax markets.

The South-East Asia team at Komli which currently operates as Aktiv Digital will be integrated with that of Admax following the acquisition. Mr Mehta did not divulge details of the deal or its impact on Komli's revenues.
