Dinesh Kumar Likhi, a technocrat has taken charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, (MIDHANI) here today. Prior to this he was Director (Production & Marketing).

In that position, Likhi was instrumental in formulating policies for ensuring implementation of growth oriented projects and long-term business agreements for procurement of critical raw materials required for production.

He succeeds M Narayana Rao. The Hyderabad-based, public sector unit under the Ministry of defence recorded a turnover of Rs 656 crore in 2014-15.

Likhi is a gold medallist in Metallurgical engineering from IIT, Roorkee, a Ph.D in Strategic Alliance from IIT Delhi and an MBA (corporate strategy and economic policy) from the Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands. He started as a management trainee at SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant and rose up to the post of General Manager (Business Planning) in 2009. He joined Midhani in 2011.

He brings in a blend of academics with practical industry experience that will be tested as the organization is challenged to contribute in a bigger way in research, development, manufacture and supply of critical alloys and products of national security and strategic importance for defence , aerospace and atomic energy.
