Direct-to-home service provider Dish TV has posted a net loss of Rs 16 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 55.09 crore in the corresponding quarter previous fiscal on the back of exceptional income. Net sales were up 10.57 per cent to Rs 589.68 crore (Rs 533.27 crore).
The company said keeping in mind its strategy for self-funded growth with minimal debt on its books, it had “repaid debt to the tune of Rs 2,350 million in the first half and will be paying off the rupee equivalent of $90 million in the second half of the current fiscal.” “We are on track and look forward to acquiring additional transponder capacity to beef up our existing bandwidth in the current fiscal. We intend to leverage the additional capacity to distribute localised content as well as strengthen carriage revenues,” said Jawahar Goel, MD, Dish TV, in a statement.
On the festive season strategy, Salil Kapoor, COO, Dish TV, said the company is focusing on getting quality consumers with its festive offers. He also said that Sri Lanka, where the company is in the process of setting operations, is an attractive market.
