Dr Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences (DRILS) will step up its focus on collaboration with start-ups besides big corporates in research.
"The institute can incubate innovative ideas/projects from start-up enterprises, among others, to promote innovation,’’ G V Prasad, Co-Chairman and CEO of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, told newspersons on the sidelines of a symposium on fostering industry academia ecosystem organised by DRILS here on Saturday.
The institute, which was set up in 2004 in public private partnership mode by Dr Reddy’s and the Government, is also focussing on attracting more funding from other companies, he added.
According to Akella Venkateswarlu, Founder-Director of DRILS, his institute is ready to offer solution-focussed research to industry in life sciences, drug discovery and product development. "We are mainly focussing on the areas of metabolic disorders, immunology and zebra fish biology,'' he said.
About 20 companies, including Dr Reddy’s, have conducted projects with the institute since its inception.
