In an effort to do its bit, Dr Reddy's Laboratories has announced the launch of two initiatives to help patients and caregivers in their fight against cancer.

The Hyderabad-based pharma major’s oncology business in India aims at bringing in a SEA (Science, Education and Accessibility) change in the treatment of cancer in India.

The initial focus will be on lung and breast cancers. The first initiative is SHVAAS—The lung cancer editorial board.

It will be a first of its kind resource of lung cancer studies done globally and made available to Indian oncologists and patients.

SHVAAS is an online repository of various published and unpublished lung cancer studies related to India. Lung Cancer Editorial Board will share its views and case studies on guidelines for treatment of lung cancer in the Indian context on this platform.

The second initiative is the Indian Breast Cancer Resource, a first of its kind online repository. Dr Reddy’s is supporting a team of eminent oncologists in developing the resource, a press release said.

This initiative is led by Sudeep Gupta from Tata Memorial Hospitals (TMH), Mumbai and D.C. Doval, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, New Delhi with support from R.A. Badwe, Director, TMH and G.K. Rath, Head of Oncology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and contributions from over 60 oncologists from across the country.
