Betting big on the increasing disposable incomes of bike lovers in India, superbikes maker Ducati India is looking to open four more dealerships across the country — one by the end of this year and three by he end of 2017.
The company currently has one dealership each in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad.
“The next dealership will come up at Kochi. In 2017. We are planning three more dealerships in the country,” said Ravi Avalur, Managing Director, Ducati India.
“We are optimistic about the increased disposable income of customers in India. We have most of the customers from the age group of 25-45, with varied financial backgrounds. The passion for premium and superbikes is driving the demand,” he added.
The company is looking to gain significant market share through its variety of superbikes, including the recently launched cruiser, Ducati XDiavel, priced in the range of ₹16.93-19.70 lakh for two variants.
“The overall market of 500cc+ and ₹4 lakh-plus bikes in India is around 7,000-8,000 units a year and it is growing at the rate of 15-16 per cent. Our growth is higher than that of the market. Since our entry in India one year and three months ago, we have launched three new models,” said Avalur.
The Diavel has been the highest selling model for the company so far in India.
