The Dunlop Factory Employees Union has expressed its support to the Dunlop India management’s efforts to get the winding up order issued against it by Kolkata High Court vacated.
In a letter to the management, the Union which represents the workers at Dunlop’s factory in Ambattur, has urged the management to continue with the full and final settlement talks that have been going on for over one year.
According to union representatives, in response to a request from the management, the DFEU has expressed its support to Dunlop India’s efforts to get a stay on the winding up order issued by a single judge bench of the Court on January 31.
News reports of the winding up order have caused `anguish and anxiety’ among the workers, said DFEU in the letter. The DFEU has urged the Dunlop management to expedite the settlement talks and enable the workers get their dues early.
The management had declared ‘suspension of operation’ at Ambattur since February 21, 2012.
The DFEU had sought a full and final settlement for the 500 workers on the rolls as of February 1, 2012.
The management had also agreed and sent its approval on May 25, 2012. Negotiations have been mediated by the Tamil Nadu Labour Department for the settlement.
