Consumer durables firm Electrolux today said it will enter the Indian water purifier market by June this year with the launch of its premium RO solutions.
“Electrolux senses a big opportunity to sell water purifiers globally and to capitalise the opportunities, it intends to roll the ball from India,” an official spokesperson for Electrolux’s range of water purifiers in India said.
The launch of Electrolux RO water purifiers will bring in a new level of premium excellence to the high-end segment, the official added.
“Catering to the needs of elite customers, these water purifiers will offer a variety of models to suit any architectural designer kitchens,” the spokesperson said.
The official, however, did not share details such as time of launch, model range, possible prices and whether these will be assembled locally or imported.
According to company sources, the products will be rolled out keeping in mind the growing demands for premium range of appliances in India.
“Electrolux has internally announced its intention to register its presence in water purifiers segment in India and is likely to roll out the first such water purifier range in June,” a source said.
The Indian water purifier market is expected to scale up to Rs 7,000 crore by 2015 as against Rs 3,200 crore at present, the company said.
The water purifier industry in India is divided into two main categories — low cost water treatment products and high-end water purifiers.
