Eros International has begun marketing of the Rajnikant starrer, Kochadaiyaan , and has entered into strategic tie-up with Karbonn Mobiles. The company has also assigned Tamil satellite rights to Jaya TV and Telugu rights to Lakshmi Ganapathy Films, Hyderabad.
“The film is complete and is in active post-production,” Eros said in an announcement to the stock exchanges today. The film is expected to be released by the end of the year.
Karbonn Mobiles is to launch 500,000 ‘Kochadaiyaan mobiles’ to celebrate the release of the film. These mobiles will have exclusive screen savers and images from the film along with the trailer and the signature tune of the film. They are expected to be launched around September.
But a more “special treat” is Rajnikant’s digital signature on the back panel of the phone so that every Rajni fan has the autograph of the iconic film star.
Eros describes Kochadaiyaan as “an action adventure film with performance capturing technology on the lines of James Cameron’s Avatar ”. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English. Starring along with Rajnikant are Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Sharat Kumar, Nazzar, Shobana, and Aadi. The film has been directed by Soundarya Ashwin with story and supervision by K. S. Ravikumar.
The music release of the film is planned to be held in Tokyo and multi-city premieres of the film will happen in Los Angeles and London too.
Eros International, part of the Eros group, has been in the media business for the past 35 years. Today, it has a library of 1,100 films.
The company achieved a turnover of Rs 963 crore in 2011-12, on which it made a net profit of Rs 148 crore.
On the BSE today, the share price of Eros International is currently trading at Rs 175.75, which is Rs 4.90 higher than the previous close.
