Eros International is scaling up its digital presence by launching ErosNow. The online entertainment platform said it will be looking at offering content across various genres like drama, comedy and fiction, besides a line-up of exclusive movie premieres and originals.
Eros International Plc, an NYSE-listed entity, said digital will have significant thrust in its investment portfolio.
“As a group we will be investing $20 million for FY2016 across various platforms. Digital will also be a part of this investment. A large amount will be spent on creating and aggregating content,” said Jyoti Deshpande, Group CEO and MD. Deshpande said the company has set its sight on digital. “We are poised to take advantage of the growing broadband penetration and the launch of 4G technology to reach out to the potential audience. As consumption patterns change globally, internet entertainment networks have begun to rapidly replace traditional, linear television.”
ErosNow already hosts the largest library of films as well as premium television shows, music videos and audio tracks. She said over 19 million registered users have already signed up to ErosNow during its pre-launch phase.
Deshpande said that Eros is also looking to premiere blockbusters first on the digital platform rather than television.
Hits from Eros stable such as Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Badlapur, NH10, Shamitabh and Happy Ending will be films that will be showcased on ErosNow.
Rishika Lulla Singh, CEO, Eros Digital, said ErosNow will also be producing in-house flagship original programming in genres that include reality shows, adaptations of hit international series, and original productions spanning drama, comedy and thrillers.
