Tata Power Co Ltd said it has shut its 250-MW Unit Eight at the Trombay plant here, following a breakout of fire on Thursday night.
No one was injured. The extent of damage and reasons would be ascertained in due course with engineers of Tata Power and OEM experts from BHEL, the company said in a statement.
Power generation from the rest of the units of the Trombay station remains unaffected. The company said it will ensure that alternative power supply is maintained to Mumbai consumers.
